As part of our new way of life, travelling more, embracing culture and sharing our experiences, we finally found time to travel to a local attraction that we have often recommended to our visitors, but have never previously been to ourselves: Burghley House.

It’s a beautiful and impressive place to visit. The 500 year old house was created by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I as a display of his phenominal wealth and as a dynastic family seat for his descendants. In fact the direct descendants of the property’s creator still live there to this day, making it one of the oldest family homes in Britain. The sculpture and water gardens were also very impressive, and the whole place is well worth a visit.
