A few days after the muntjac doe and fawn were spotted on-site, we saw this doe. We seriously hope that there is not a negative reason why the fawn is missing. Hopefully this is a different doe, or the fawn was somewhere safe.
(NB: Muntjac /ˈmʌntdʒak/ - a small SE Asian deer, the male of which has tusks, small antlers, and a doglike bark)
Interestingly, the Muntjac is not native to the UK. The small Asian deer was introduced to Woburn Park in Bedfordshire at the start of the 20th century and rapidly spread into the surrounding area. It is now a common animal across southeast England.
